The Smart and Connected Vineyard

RESCUE SUPPORT

We know that winemaking is a combination of art and science. We are not artists but we can help winemakers with the data science behind winemaking. From watching the weather and checking the soil, to testing grapes for sugar levels and acidity and then deciding when to harvest, nature and winemaker must work together. The data collected by CyStellar from the vineyards allows winemakers to assess vineyard conditions in order to define the optimal time and location for fertilisation, irrigation and use of fungicides.

Bacchus Platform Functionality

The CyStellar Bacchus Platform makes it possible to collect and leverage huge amounts of critical data at minimal costs, thus making a vineyard's field operations more insight driven, and potentially more productive and efficient through all the grapes growth stages.

Benefits for the Winemakers

Our Ag-Tech applications integrate geo-referenced information from a variety of sources including satellite imagery, drone-based surveillance, weather forecasts, ground-based sensors, and other social, societal, political, and economic information in order to provide actionable intelligence to winemakers. Collecting and analyzing real-time data from different plots enables farmers to fully optimize the grapes growing and harversting conditions. CyStellar's Connected Vineyard solution makes data available on a dashboard, and winemakers can check the information in real-time and adjust vinayard management and growing processes accordingly.

Up to 15% Profit Margin Increase

due to increased field productivity and cost reduction

Variable Rate Application

of irrigation, fetilizing and pesticide spraying to match field variability.

Automate the detection

of diseases like downy mildew.

Uncertainity reduction

in the vineyard management process.

Up to a 40% cost reduction

as a result of eliminating the unnecessary use of fertilizers or irrigation water

Support for predictive sprays

of fungicide to prevent disease and rotting, which can be caused by heavy condensation.

Wine improves with age but also with very high-resolution satellite and drone imagery

Satellite data enables farmers to monitor crop progress very closely and to take corrective action precisely where it is needed, thus resulting in greater efficiency and sustainability. CyStellar provides access to multispectral and hyperspectral satellite imagery and analysis which provides a unique information about the soil quality, humidity, temperature and atmospheric conditions. and analyse the development of biomass and the nitrogen and starch content in the crops. In addition the satellites collect information on numerous other aspects such as changes in water quality, forestation and the environment. The CyStellar Bacchus process all these informations and transform it into actionable insights for the winemakers.

The Ground-Sensors Platform

Data from ground sensors including temperature, frost, leaf wetness, soil moisture, soil chemistry, and others, seamlessly integrated into CyStellar Ceres through an IoT wireless network. The ground sensors interact with aerial drones and an on-site weather station to determine if the grapes are getting too big, if the vines are at risk for mildew or mold, or if there is not enough sunshine.

Temperature Sensor

Measures the ambient temperature

pic

Humidity Sensor

Measures the moisture levels in the environment.

pic

Leaf Wetness Sensor

Detects leaf wetness and ice formation in plant canopies resulting from rainfall, irrigation, and/or dew.

pic

Atmospheric Pressure Sensor

Barometric pressure sensors measure the absolute pressure of the air around them. This pressure varies with both the weather and altitude.

pic

Soil Temperature and Moisture Sensor

It measures the soild temperature and volumetric water content in the soil on the basis of the dielectric constant of the soil. The data is useful to proceed with the irrigation.

pic

Solar Radiation and Ultraviolet Radiation Sensor

Measures solar radiation for evapotranspiration (ET) and UV sensor that reveals UV rays which affect the plant growth and the control of pathogens.

Weather Station: Anemometer, Pluviometerm Wind Vane

Anemometers, barometers, a thermo-hygrometers and rain gauges in order to reveal wind, atmospheric pressure, temperature, relative humidity, dew point, frost and rainfall used to optimize irrigation and treatments
